Salaries in the Czech Republic, 2026

The national average is 50,282 Kč gross per month (€2,077). The median is lower, shop-floor medians are lower still, and what a new arrival is offered is lower again. Here is each of those numbers separately.

Why two different medians. The Czech Statistical Office has temporarily stopped publishing median wages while it changes methodology, so the most recent official median is from Q4 2025. The ISPV survey uses a different method and covers the full year. We show both rather than picking whichever looks better.

From the ISPV wage survey, private sector, 2025. Gross, net, and the quartile spread — because the spread tells you more than the median does.

The bar is where the middle half of workers sit. A new arrival from outside the EU normally starts near the left edge of it, not at the dot.

Two trades are missing: ISPV publishes no separate figure for packers (CZ-ISCO 9321), and milling is not coded separately from turning. We would rather leave a gap than invent a number.

Legal floor is not market practice. The law requires 10% for night work; large industrial plants commonly pay 20%. It requires 25% for overtime; most pay 25% and some more by collective agreement. When we quote premiums on a vacancy, that is what the employer actually pays, not the statutory minimum.

The guaranteed wage — and why we are not going to be confident about it

Czechia has a system called zaručená mzda: minimum wages graded into bands by job complexity, so a machine operator has a higher legal floor than a cleaner. It has been reformed recently, and the reform is reported to have cut the bands and to have limited the system to public-sector employment — which would leave the flat minimum wage of 22,400 Kč as the only floor at a private factory or warehouse.

We could not verify that against a primary source. The claim appears on commercial payroll sites, not on the Ministry of Labour's own pages or in the statute text we could reach — several Czech legal databases block automated access. So we are describing it as reported rather than stating it as fact. If your pay depends on a guaranteed-wage grade, check it with the Labour Office directly rather than with any website, this one included.

What is verified is the flat minimum: 22,400 Kč a month, 134.40 Kč an hour for 2026.

Why this matters either way: if an agency reassures you that your pay is protected by "the guaranteed wage for your grade" at a private plant, ask them to show you which grade and under which rule. The answer is checkable and a real employer will have it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average salary in the Czech Republic?

50,282 Kč gross per month — about €2,077 — in Q1 2026, up +8.1% nominal, +6.4% real. But the average is pulled up by Prague and by white-collar pay; the median is considerably lower.

What is the median salary?

45,523 Kč (€1,880) as of Q4 2025. The statistics office has temporarily suspended median publication while it changes methodology, so this is the last confirmed figure. The ISPV survey gives 43,241 Kč for the full year 2025.

How much of my gross salary do I keep?

Roughly 80%. Income tax is 15%, employee social and health insurance together are 11.6%, and everyone gets a monthly tax credit of 2,570 Kč which softens the effective rate at lower incomes.

Is Prague better paid?

Yes, by a wide margin — 67,945 Kč on average, +35.1% above the national average. But rent in Prague eats most of the difference, which is why almost all industrial placements are outside the capital.

Why is the pay offered to me lower than the national median?

Because the median includes Czech workers with years of service, seniority bonuses and qualification grades. A new arrival starts at the bottom of the range and moves up. Any agency quoting you the national average as your starting salary is misleading you.

What would you actually be offered?

The national median is not a job offer. Tell us your trade and experience and we will quote the real figure for the positions we have now.
